I receive a notification that Sentry Mode activated when opening the camera feed in the official Tesla app. Is that normal?
This was a quirk of pre-2021 Model S and Model X vehicles connected through Tesla’s legacy owner API. Those vehicles required Sentry Mode to be activated in order to deliver a live camera feed in the official Tesla app, and that activation triggered a notification from Sentry Pro that wasn’t tied to a real security event.
This no longer occurs. Tesla retired the legacy owner API, and Sentry Pro now uses Tesla’s official Fleet API exclusively. As a result, pre-2021 Model S and Model X are no longer supported by Sentry Pro. On all currently supported vehicles (Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck, and 2021+ Model S/X), notifications correspond to real Sentry Mode events. If you’re seeing unexpected duplicate notifications on a supported vehicle, please contact support.
